A very interesting fact that we both faced when we first mentioned to our relatives and some friends that we were launching our very own business of Soft Play and Ball Pits hire for kids, was that not many people were related to the term ‘Soft- Play’.
Actually, we have to confess that we didn’t know about this topic until we became parents and realised that babies are so vulnerable but also very eager to explore whenever and wherever they can. As a new parent you are quite stressed and want to provide safe and fun entertainment and stimulation to your baby whilst avoiding any injury at all. There is when we entered in the magic world of SOFT PLAY!
But still, what is it?
According to the Oxford Dictionary, Soft Play is defined as “Designating children’s play facilities or equipment constructed from soft materials and components, and intended to provide a safe environment for play and exercise”.
Soft play can be considered as an activity for kids that includes playing in a specially designed area with smooth surfaces and soft equipment, so children are safe to play in it.
Soft Play is not only used to keep kids entertained for hours, it also helps them engage and react to stimuli, such as different textures, materials and colours. This includes stimulating their sense of balance (vestibular) and increases their awareness of their emotions, body and surroundings (proprioception).
